Cookeville-WCTE PBS is here with support materials for At-Home Learning with FREE Online Resources and a NEW Television Schedule of Educational Programming. WCTE’s new At-Home Learning broadcast line-up, in partnership with Tennessee Department of Education, and in collaboration with Tennessee PBS Stations, will begin Monday, April 6, offering Pre-K to 12th grade broadcast programming with digital resources that adhere to Tennessee State Standards.

As Tennessee school districts closed indefinitely, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, WCTE announces an ambitious plan to support at-home learning. WCTE will deliver a new weekday television schedule of educational programs and a hub of free digital learning resources accessible from home.

“It’s the mission of WCTE PBS to ensure all kids, regardless of their capabilities, have access to continued free educational resources at home,” says Becky Magura President and CEO of WCTE PBS.

WCTE will dedicate their daytime weekday broadcast schedule to airing standards-aligned, educational programming provided by PBS and the Tennessee Department of Education. The new 6 am- 4 pm schedule includes specific blocks of instructional resources for Pre-K through 12th grades in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Math. Support materials will also be available online to reinforce the broadcasted At-Home Learning schedule.

  • WCTE PBS At-Home Learning Noon- 4 PM (Middle- High School)

“Parents and teachers across the Upper Cumberland are concerned for their children and students. Many may not have access to the tools necessary for traditional distant learning” says Cindy Putman, WCTE’s Ready to Learn Project Manager, with 27 years of public education classroom experience. “This partnership with PBS, PBS KIDS, and the TDOE comes at a pivotal time and could be part of the solution in preventing students from not making gains in learning. WCTE PBS constantly looks for new ways to support families and make learning engaging and fun”

As part of this collaboration with WCTE PBS, PBS, PBS KIDS and TDOE a number of corresponding free digital content for at-home learning is now available to all children, caregivers and teachers to assist the navigation of this new way of learning. WCTE At-Home Learning broadcast schedule and digital support materials can be found at wcte.org/at-home-learning.
