December 6, 2023, Cookeville TN – The Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) and WCTE PBS were awarded the prestigious NADO Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award for the exceptional tourism television series, Wish You Were Here! Adventures in Tennessee's Upper Cumberland. 

UCDD’s innovative and pioneering approach to economic development and community revitalization in the post-pandemic era is highlighted by this prestigious recognition. Additionally, WCTE PBS's exceptional ability to capture and narrate the story through stunning cinematography is emphasized. The captivating 30-minute program, which airs monthly on WCTE PBS, showcases the talents of local individuals such as Shan Williams Stout, Rafferty Cleary, Matt Beal, and host Katelyn Steakley, taking viewers on an immersive journey within their community. The show explores various unique and sometimes well-known locations, restaurants, historical sites, and more. Through their enjoyable and occasionally humorous personalities, the hosts establish a strong connection with the audience, inspiring them to explore the area. 

This remarkable series credits some of its success to the expertise of Craig Gray, a seasoned producer with 16 years of experience at WCTE PBS, who has spared no effort in delivering an exceptional production. Gray employs vibrant and dynamic activities to ensure that viewers receive the complete narrative.

Avery Hutchins, the President and CEO of WCTE PBS, emphasizes the importance of showcasing the stunning Upper Cumberland region to boost tourism. She praises the exceptional collaboration between Hannah Carrell, the USDD producer, and Craig Gray, the producer, videographer, and editor, as they form an impeccable team.

The series' first and second seasons, funded by the Economic Development Administration and United States Department of Agriculture, not only spotlight the abundant natural resources and cultural tapestry of the fourteen-county Upper Cumberland region but also function as a catalyst for economic advancement and community connectivity. Season three, made possible through the generous support of Tennessee Tech University and the Department of Tourism Development, is scheduled to debut in March 2024.
